![]() The best way to describe TradeWars is, as Andrew from Of Teeth and Claws put it, an extremely early version of EVE Online. A sequel, Legend of the Red Dragon II: New World, was released in 1992. The BBS door game to end all door games. In the glory days of pre-internet local dialup Bulletin Board Systems, there were few games quite like LORD.Most door games on BBSes were poorly written, and not a whole lot of fun for a long period of time. ![]() use hyperterminal, linux console telnet, or any other decent program. Robinson also designed the game to be expandable via in-game modules that players or sysops could design and program. Name of the game: Legend of the Red Dragon, or L.O.R.D. this isn't multi-node so if somebody else is on it won't let you in but i doubt that'll be much of a problem.ĭon't use the XP telnet client, it's awful and you can't turn off local echo afaik so all your typing will look doubled. ![]() Hopefully we get a lot of players and get a good game going. It's a bit slow running the BBS of course, but once you get into the LORD game it's really quite fast so if you miss this game like i do, go ahead and relive those memories!! (beware, it takes about 20 seconds after you hit D but don't worry it's working!) i'll have to set you to full user manually before it actually shows in the list. as a new user, it doesn't show the door menu listing at the main menu but hit D when you get there and it'll go anyway. :sigh:Īnyway, if anybody wants to log in and play connect: i mainly did this just to set up Legend of the Red Dragon, because i couldn't get enough of that game in the mid 90's. I've set up wildcat 4.10 on my XT clone and it's telnet-accessible.
